What to bring to a furnished supportive residence

For a furnished residence, start by checking what is already supplied. Pack personal essentials, organize your arrival details, and confirm the house rules before buying furniture or bringing bulky items.

What Ocean Breeze Living provides

The residence’s published amenities include fully furnished rooms, new bed and bath linens, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs in each apartment, on-site laundry, shared living spaces and private outdoor areas.

Ask what is included in your assigned room before buying duplicates. On-site laundry does not by itself tell you whether detergent or laundry charges are included. Likewise, a furnished room does not establish the amount of storage or the list of kitchen supplies available.

Organize personal essentials

This is a planning checklist, not a list of required or automatically permitted items. Confirm the residence’s current instructions first.

  • Everyday clothing: comfortable outfits, sleepwear, shoes and the items you use for work, appointments or outdoor time. Start with what fits the confirmed storage space.
  • Personal-care supplies: toiletries and your usual daily essentials. Ask about storage and any item restrictions.
  • Phone and practical electronics: your phone, charger and any device you regularly use. Confirm other electronics, cords and appliances before bringing them.
  • Documents requested by the team: ask which identification and application materials are needed. Keep originals secure and use the team’s agreed method for sharing documents.
  • A contact list: the residence contact, important personal contacts and the outside providers you already use. Keep a copy accessible if your phone is unavailable.
  • A small personal touch: ask about photos, books or other permitted items that will help the space feel familiar.

Confirm these before packing

Medication and outside appointments

Ask your current care team and the residence how existing medication, pharmacy and appointment arrangements should be coordinated for the move. Confirm the residence’s storage and support policies. Do not change prescribed medication or send a medication list through the general website form as part of a housing inquiry.

Food and shared supplies

Confirm meal arrangements, kitchen access, food storage, cleaning supplies and laundry supplies. The published amenities do not establish that meals or all consumables are included.

Large or restricted items

Check before bringing furniture, extra appliances, large electronics, bicycles or other bulky belongings. Ask directly about pets, visitors, parking and any accommodation request relevant to the move. This guide does not establish a policy for any of those items.

The current house expectations

Request the full current house rules, substance policy and packing instructions from the team so you can prepare for the actual living arrangement. Ask how any medication-related arrangements are handled; do not infer them from a general policy label.

Before you leave for move-in

  1. Confirm that the application and room arrangements are complete, along with the agreed costs and payment instructions.
  2. Confirm the arrival date, time, directions and person to contact. Do not rely on a city or ZIP code as a move-in address.
  3. Keep arrival-day essentials in one accessible bag rather than packed among everything else.
  4. Confirm how you will reach any already scheduled outside appointments after arriving.
  5. Save a copy of the written agreement and the current house instructions for reference.

If you are still comparing options, review admissions and length of stay before planning a move. Once the arrangements are confirmed, our Fort Lauderdale resource guide can help with everyday local planning.

Keep first-week arrangements easy to find

Packing finishes before the everyday planning does. After arrival, make a short reference sheet using the residence's actual instructions. These are questions to resolve, not a promised Ocean Breeze orientation schedule.

  1. Contacts: save the person to ask about an ordinary housing issue and confirm how to reach support when needed.
  2. Shared facilities: find out how laundry, belongings and any food or kitchen arrangements work before buying extra supplies.
  3. The calendar: confirm any residence expectations and existing outside commitments, including how you will get there and back.
  4. Living together: check house rules and discuss everyday preferences using the roommate conversation checklist.
  5. Unanswered items: choose the right contact for each open question rather than relying on a guess from move-in day.

If a household task feels unfamiliar, the everyday-skills worksheet can help you identify one small step and the help you want. For travel, use the Fort Lauderdale trip planner guide.
